Things to avoid while exploring India

  • Don’t leave things to chance: Always book your hotel and tickets from a reputed site like Arzoo.com to get best available rates.
  • Don’t over expect: Your flight or train can be late, plans can go awry don’t get stressed out if you get late by a couple of minutes. 
  • Avoid littering: Tourist attractions are public properties so refrain from making too much noise, or throwing litter around.
  • Don’t click locals without their permission: Many people can get offended if you click them without asking for their permission.
  • Don’t rush: You may want to fit everything in your itinerary, so that you can explore everything at once. This will not only cause exhaustion but you might end up missing spectacular sites. Try and devote each destination atleast 1 or 2 days.
  • Look what you eat and drink: Drink only from bottled water and never accept any food items and drinks from an unknown person.
  • Don’t travel long-distance by road during the monsoon and winter season: Floods, landslides and fog are common in many parts of India, these conditions will not only add woes to your trip but may also leave you completely stranded.
  • Acclimatize yourself: When reaching for higher altitude, take ample rest and help your body to get acclimatised with thinning of oxygen to prevent altitude sickness.
  • Don’t hire unauthorized guides: Always hire guides after checking their ID. Government approved guides are available at almost all tourist attractions across the country.
  • Look what you wear: Dress decently, and don’t wear or carry anything that projects affluence. Gold jewellery and expensive are a strict no-no, unless you want to invite trouble.
  • Don’t roam around alone during late night, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area.
  • Carry insect repellent: Don’t forget to carry an insect repellent and mosquito cream.
